Assignment Details
- We were asked to offer an in depth, day to day management operation for this package due to programme issues developing with the project
- This included the review and monitoring of the installation package including design, procurement and onsite installation coordination
- Monitoring and reporting on site progress
- Highlight any possible critical issues and manage to a solution
- Negotiate and engage Sub Contract packages as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project
- Review and agree on site installation programme with Main Contractor and other Sub Contractors
Project Challenges
- The package was approx. 30 % installed when we were asked to get involved in the project
- We immediately assessed the onsite progress and availability of materials to complete the project, in line with the agreed programme
- We also highlighted any areas of delay by others which were preventing the start or completion of various phases
- This was a very tight site with a number of other subcontractors working in close proximity to our work, therefore close communication and negotiation was required to ensure the economical completion of areas
- A number of on site design issues occurred throughout the project which required our input to agree an onsite solutions
- Large 2.5 m x 4 m SG double glazed units required a specialist site glazing crane operation, which we organized and programmed
- Certain operations were undertaken out of normal working hours, weekends and nights to ensure programme dates were met
- Our careful record keeping, reporting and communication was required at all times
Project Results
- The final installation of the various products works well aesthetically with the other products on the project giving a pleasing and functional building for the end user
- Our careful recording and communication was essential if it became necessary to protect our clients position
- Despite a number of issues on site the installation was completed within the revised programme dates
